The Integrated Social Skills Training and Enrichment Programme or IN-STEP programme is a comprehensive group-based social skills training programme with complementary modules for both probationers (under the age of 14) and their parents.
IN-STEP’s is meant to equip probationers with relevant social skills and enhance parents’ parenting skills concurrently. This approach would enable parents to help their respective child’s process of transfer of learning from the programme back to the home environment. It would reinforce their respective child’s learning within the programme and create a more positive home environment. In the long-term, this approach would contribute to reducing recidivism and the risk of siblings entering the criminal justice system.
